Obituary

OBITUARY William C. Barker, Jr. of St. Clair, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, February 19, 2023, having reached the age of seventy-five years, eleven months and twenty-four days. William was born in Cairo, IL on February 26, 1947, son of William C. Barker, Sr. and Edith Inez Barker nee Jones. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have two children. He began sharing his life with his significant other, Vicki Carter, in June of 2018. William is survived by his children, Billy Barker and girlfriend, Julie Davenport, of St. Clair, MO and Amy Woodcock and husband, Jason, of Sullivan, MO; by his significant other, Vicki Carter of St. Clair, MO; by his sister, Marylene Elliot of Jackson, MO; by his grandchildren, Jared Woodcock of Sullivan, MO and Jordan Woodcock and girlfriend, Brea Carroll, of Sullivan, MO; by his best friend, Ken Eaker of St. Clair, MO; by his four-legged friends. Shasah and Missy; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. William was preceded in death by his parents, William, Sr. and Edith Barker. William was a Christian and believed in the Lord as his Savior. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and went on to employment at Hussmann Refrigeration in Bridgeton, MO for over twenty years and then owned and operated Commercial Refrigeration Products for fifteen years. William played football and ran track in high school and also played lead trumpet in the high school band. He could also play piano and guitar. He had coached kid's baseball and soccer and played men's softball. William also enjoyed fishing and growing vegetables. He loved to cook and grill, make breakfast and the family really loved his homemade salsa. What meant most to him was spending time with and entertaining family and friends. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will forever be cherished by the all. A kind and loving companion, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 23,2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
