Vera Alma Buscher of Hermann, MO departed this life in Hermann, MO on Thursday, June 27, 2024, having reached the age of ninety-two years, ten months and twenty-one days. Vera was born in Rhineland, MO on August 6, 1931, daughter of Aloyius Winkelmann and Virgie Winkelmann nee Van Booven. On November 29, 1951 she was united in marriage to Oscar Charles Buscher and two children came to bless this union. Vera is survived by her son, Charles A. Buscher and wife, Susan, of St. Clair, MO; by her daughter, Alma Halbert and husband, George, of St. Clair, MO; by one brother, Louis Winkelmann and wife, Evelyn, of Hermann, MO; by four sisters, Ida Brandt and husband, Otto, of Hermann, MO, Rosemary Kattelman of Hermann, MO, Pauline Oberg of Gray Summit, MO and Beverly Haeffner of Gasconade, MO; by her grandchildren, William Buscher and wife, Stefanie, of Eureka, MO, Nicole Ivy and husband, Timothy, of Arnold, MO, Daryl Buscher and wife, Crystal, of Union, MO and Heather Porter and husband, Richard, of St. Clair, MO; by eight great-grandchildren, by one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Aley and Virgie Winkelmann; by one brother, Alfred Winkelmann; and by two sisters, Margaret Witthaus and Roeslla Bell. Vera was a Christian of the Catholic faith and member of St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. During her working career she worked in the housekeeping department of St. Clair Nursing Center in St. Clair, MO and St. John Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO. Interests included doing needlepoint, embroidery and cooking. She also enjoyed taking care of her house plants and flowers. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished the time they spent together. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be held dear in their hearts. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on July 1, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Dustin Love officiating. Interment will be in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
