Thurman Lee Mitchell, 55, of Denver, Colorado, departed this life unexpectedly on Thursday, April 18th, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Debbie McFarland Mitchell; his daughter, Precious Mitchell; his stepson, Robert McFarland (girlfriend, Robin); his grandchildren, Maci McFarland, Annabelle Hollingshead, and Kaden Hollingshead, all of Pacific, MO; his mother, Naomi Mitchell of Beaufort; three brothers, Mike Mitchell (Brenda) and Tim Mitchell (Brenda) of Villa Ridge, Steve Mitchell (Keiko) of Weeki Wachi, Florida; one sister, Donna Kimminau (Gregory) of Fulton, MO; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kaylee Lynn Mitchell of Pacific, and his father, Albert Mitchell of Beaufort. Thurman grew up in Beaufort, MO and attended Beaufort and Union public schools. He joined the Job Corps in 1986, after which he lived in California and later returned to Missouri. He was a pool and spa maintenance specialist for many years in St. Louis and Denver. He currently worked for Hydro Dynamic Services in Denver. He loved his job and was a very hard worker. Thurman enjoyed motorcycle riding and he loved the Rocky Mountains. He was active with the LGBTQ community of Denver and had many friends there. He spent time at Harvest Farm Denver Rescue Mission in Wellington, CO. Currently he resided at Oxford House Canosa in Denver where he had become a mentor and readily assisted anyone else struggling with addictions. Thurman was a Christian, who relied on his faith through many trials and tribulations in this life. He was a gentle soul, and he will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A Visitation and Funeral service will be held on Friday April 26, 2024 5:30-6:30PM with services at 6:30PM at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. Interment of his ashes will take place privately at a later date.
