OBITUARY

Terry James Rice of Union, MO departed this life at his home on Monday, May 4, 2026, having reached the age of seventy-three years and twenty-six days. Terry was born in St. Louis, MO on April 8, 1953, son of Harold Richard Rice and Virginia May Rice nee Presswood. As a young man he was blessed to have five children. On June 11, 1979 he began sharing his life with Karen Stovall.

Terry is survived by his spouse, Karen Stovall of Union, MO; by his children, Duane Stovall and wife, Kate, of Afton, MO, Jill Gutknecht and husband, Daniel, of St. Clair, MO, James Rice of Lemay, MO, Terry Rice and wife, Samantha, of Union, MO and Felicia Pracht and husband, John, of Union, MO; by one sister, Margaret MacNutt of O’Fallon, MO; by one brother, Jerry Ray Rice and wife, Judy, of Zigler, IL; by his grandchildren, Carter Rutledge, Mathew Rice and girlfriend, Kirsten Green, Christopher Rice and girlfriend, Cheyenne Wilson, Mason Rice, Milla Brumley, Christian Rice, Colton Schomberg, Avery Schomberg, Kaycen Rice and Amber Pracht and husband, Aiden; by his great-grandchildren, Carter Chisholm and Grayson Jones, with Leighton Rice on the way; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Virginia Rice; by two sisters, Zelma Douglas and infant Deana Rice; and by three brothers, Harold Rice, Ricky Rice and Larry Dell Rice.

Terry enjoyed caring for his home and was a handyman of sorts, buying tools and tinkering with cars in his garage. He also enjoyed going fishing and riding motorcycles. What brought him the most joy was playing with his grandchildren. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever.

A kind and loving companion, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A private committal will take place at a later date. The family of Terry James Rice entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
