OBITUARY Sylvia Jean Spradling of St. Clair, MO departed this life at her home, on Friday, January 31, 2025, having reached the age of eighty-four years, one month and six days. Sylvia was born on December 25, 1940, daughter of Delmar Allen Cox and Virgie Catherine Cox nee Berry. As a young woman she was blessed to have one daughter. On November 22, 1978 she was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Spradling and their families were joined as one. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Tina Bollinger of Brighton, IL; by her step-children, Rebecca Long of St. Clair, MO, Ronald Crosby and wife, Christine, of Jacksonville, FL and Justin Spradling of NC; by two brothers, Dean Cox and Denver Cox and wife, Birdie: by two sisters, Linda Smith and Midge Demeo; by her grandchildren, Jamey Bollinger, Jacobi Coggins, Joshua Coggins and wife, Crystal, Ryan Villinger, Patrick Crosby and wife, Ashley, and Devin Spradling; by her great-grandchildren, Raeleigh, Max, Lucas, Landon, Dylan and August; by one great-great-granddaughter, Aila; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Virgie Cox; by her husband, Jerry Spradling; and by two sisters, Nita Johnson and Helen Sikes. Sylvia was a Christian, believing in the Lord as her Savior. During her working career she was employed by Daimler-Chrysler Corporation as a secretary, retiring after thirty years of service to the company. She was also a proud member of Local 597. Sylvia had a love of the outdoors, whether horseback riding, hunting with Jerry or taking care of the cows on the family farm. She also loved playing Texas Hold 'Em, riding and racing dune buggies and especially loved her pet dog. What meant most to her was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving mother, step-mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, March 15, 2025 and Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Roger Penny officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society.
