OBITUARY Steven Richard Newbanks, Sr. of St. Clair, MO departed this life at his home on Monday, March 13, 2023, having reached the age of sixty-one years, six months and fourteen days. Steven was born in Washington, MO on August 27, 1961, son of Richard Allen Newbanks, known to all as Dick, and Jeanelle Marie Newbanks nee Unnerstall. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have three children. Steven is survived by his children, Steven Newbanks, Jr. of St. Clair, MO, Robert Newbanks and girlfriend, Wendy Israelson, of Fenton, MO and Jennifer O'Donnell and husband, Nick, of Wentzville, MO; by his sisters, Lisa Morgan and husband, Joe, of Union, MO, Lori Kirk and husband, Paul, of St. Clair, MO and sue Lackey and husband, Marty, of St. Clair, MO; by his grandchildren, Carter, Cloe, Landon, Camden, Grant, Harrison, Elijah, Josephine, Finnley and Augie; by one great-grandchild, Kaylee; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Jeanelle Newbanks. Steven was a Christian and member of St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4667 in St. Clair, MO. During his working career he was both a carpenter and millwright. He was a member of Carpenters Local 1839, working out of the union hall for twenty years, then a member of United Auto Workers 136 at Daimler Chrysler Corporation for fifteen years and finally a member of United Auto Workers 2250 for General Motors Corporation for six years until the present. He loved working on, driving and collecting cars, especially Mustangs, dirt bikes and motorcycles. Steven also loved to go fishing and hunting. What meant most to him was time spent with his children and grandchildren. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished forever by them all. A kind and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO with Father Eric Kunz officiating. Interment will be in St. Clare Catholic Cemetery in St. Clair, mo. Memorials may be made to St. Clare Catholic Church.
