OBITUARY
Stephen Jay Carter of St. Clair, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, having reached the age of seventy-two years, seven months and four days. Stephen was born in St. Louis, MO on September 15, 1953, son of James Sherman Carter and Geraldine Carter nee Benge. On February 28, 2005 he was united in marriage to Lucinda May Little.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Lucinda Carter of St. Clair, MO; by his step-children, Jessica Barker and Richard “Allen” Barker; by his brother, Stan Carter and wife, Toni; by his sister, Janet Wright and husband, Gary; by his sisters-in-law, Marsha Brown and husband, Mike, and Geraldine Little; by his brother-in-law, Nick Bommarito and wife, Patty; by nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, James and Geraldine Carter; by his son, Lucas Stephen Carter; and by his brother-in-law, Howard Little.
Stephen was a Christian, having been raised in the Baptist faith and believing in the Lord as his Savior. During his working career he was a bricklayer, owning and operating CMI, Inc. in St. Louis, MO, as well as being a chief engineer for Club House Inn & Suites in Maryland Heights, MO. Hobbies and interests included watching wrestling on television, going to St. Louis Cardinal baseball games and playing cards. In his younger years he enjoyed playing football also. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever.
A kind and loving husband, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
