OBITUARY
Silas Robert Hinson, known to all as Bob, of St. Clair, MO departed this life in Washington, MO on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, having reached the age of eighty-three years, eight months and one day. Bob was born in Lonedell, MO on June 2, 1942, son of Floyd Augustus Hinson and Ethel Lorena Hinson nee Palmer. On April 2, 1960 he was united in marriage to Loretta Mae Ely and two children came to bless this union.
Bob is survived by his wife, Loretta Hinson of St. Clair, MO; by his children, Larry Hinson of St. Clair, MO and Lee Hinson and wife, Pamela, of Union, MO; by his sister, Betty Mae Davis of St. Clair, MO; by his grandchildren, Lucas Hinson and wife, Morgan, of St. Louis, MO and Sarah Norton and husband, Hayden, of Virginia Beach, VA; by his great-grandchildren, Leland and Rosalie Hinson; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ethel Hinson; and by his brothers, Floyd “Junior” Hinson, Donald Hinson, Connie Hinson, Kenneth Hinson, Fred Hinson, Charles “Neil” Hinson and Bernard Hinson.
Bob was a Christian of the Baptist faith and had attended both Prospect Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO and Mt. Zion Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. He was a proud member of Bricklayers Local 1 in St. Louis, MO, working as a bricklayer for Leonard Masonry in St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed riding horses and was a member of St. Clair Saddle Club and raising cattle and taking care of the farm. He also enjoyed going fishing and hunting, especially hunting pheasants in South Dakota. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever.
A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will take place from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the Franklin County Baptist Association, Union, MO. A private committal will take place at a later date. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
