OBITUARY Sharon Kay Houston of Owensville, MO departed this life in Owensville on November 25, 2022, having reached the age of sixty-eight years, two months and twenty-five days. Sharon was born in St. Clair, MO on August 31, 1954, daughter of George Elvin Hawkins and Lillian Laverne Hawkins nee Wilken. On November 21, 1988 she was united in marriage to William Daryl Houston, known to all as Daryl. Sharon is survived by her husband, Daryl Houston of Owensville, MO; by four children, Rita Herman and husband, Mark, of Owensville, MO, Julie DeClue and husband, Kevin, of St. Clair, MO, Sandra Lawson of Union, MO and Tara Lesmeister and boyfriend, Todd Brown, of Washington, MO; by one brother, Terry Hawkins of St. Clair, MO; by her sisters, Dorothy Hawkins of Desloge, MO, Beulah Berkbigler and husband, Butch, of St. Clair, MO and Helen Long and husband, Frank, of St. Clair, MO; by fourteen grandchildren, Matthew Herman, Steven Herman, Jessica Budo, Josh Herman, Angel Herman, Kevin Declue Jr., Brandon DeClue, Lindsey DeClue, Ryan Halbert, Blaine Halbert, Kaleb Huskey, Tiana Huskey, Josie Huskey and William Lawson; eight great-grandchildren, with one on the way, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillian Hawkins; by one son, Wayne Halbert, Jr.; by her son-in-law, Daniel Lawson; and by two brothers, Floyd Hawkins and Oliver Hawkins. Sharon was a Christian and had been attending Union Church of God. During her working career she was employed by various nursing homes in the Franklin County area, but mainly at Sunset Nursing Center in Union, MO, as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Sharon loved leading the activities at the nursing home and taking good care of Daryl. She enjoyed going camping, being on the river and planting flowers in her flower garden. Sharon also enjoyed baking for the family, doing word searches and looking through her pictures. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished the time spent with them. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be held dear in their hearts forever. A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, December 2, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Pastor Sherry Green officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Daryl.
