OBITUARY Sara Josephine Dierker of Lonedell, MO departed this life in Sunset Hill, MO on Monday, June 19, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, two months and fourteen days. Sara was born in Richwoods, MO on April 5, 1935, daughter of Henry Cordia and Mary Louise Cordia nee Gloriod. On June 25, 1955 she was united in marriage to Wilbur Marion Dierker and four children came to bless this union. Sara is survived by her children, James "Jim" Dierker and wife, Lena, of Lonedell, MO, Cheryl Long and husband, Gary, of Fenton, MO, Charlotte Purviance and husband, David, of Grover, MO and Kenneth J. Dierker and wife, Tiger, of Grubville, MO; by three sisters, Rose Ann Dierker of Webster Groves, MO, Dorothy Dorlac of DeSoto, MO and Lena Haynes of Richwoods, MO; by her grandchildren, Amanda Robbins and husband, Brian, Ryan Dierker and wife, Sarah, Travis Dierker and wife, Andrea, Emily Purviance and friend, Mark Streitz, Wayne Dierker, Adam Purviance and wife, Maria, Samantha Jo Dierker-Linton and husband, Andy and Mikayla Jo Dierker and fiancé, Garrett Bohler; by her great-grandchildren, Luke, Jude and Eli Dierker, Bo Robbins and Draco and Astraea Downey; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Cordia; by her husband, Wilbur Dierker; by three sisters, Pauline Cordia, Helen Pratt and Charlotte Ramey; and by her brothers, Louis Cordia, John Cordia, Martin Cordia and Michael Cordia. Sara was a current member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Luebbering, MO and was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Richwoods, MO while growing up. Sara and Wilbur worked side by side as caretakers for Peppermint Springs in Grubville, MO, working for the Bromwich family for thirty-three years. While still working at Peppermint Springs they took the job of custodian and maintenance persons for the Lonedell R-14 School District and remained with the school district for twenty-six years. They worked and maintained the family farm all this time, raising cattle and hay. She assisted her husband, Wilbur, with oversight of Elmwood Cemetery for over sixty years. Sara was an avid gardener and enjoyed raising and canning her vegetables. She was a very good cook. She'd smoke meat, make jams and jellies, bake and make butter, and enjoyed it. They were living off the land and were "farm to table" before it was a thing. Sara was a talented seamstress and loved to sew, make quilts, embroider and crochet. She was also a dedicated poll worker, something she enjoyed greatly. Sara also was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the Missourian from cover to cover. What meant most to her was time spent with and caring for her home and family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the cemetery. The family of Sara Dierker entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
