OBITUARY Rose Marie Landing of Union, MO departed this life at her home on Monday, October 30, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-seven years, two months and twenty-five days. Rose was born in St. Clair, MO on August 5, 1936, daughter of Benjamin Jake Gay and Mabel Helen Gay nee Hobelmann. On April 20, 1957 she was united in marriage to Joseph Austin Landing and three daughters came to bless this union. Rose is survived by her daughters, Cindy George and husband Matthew, of Sullivan, MO; Patti Kaase and husband Larkie, of Owensville, MO; and Tracy Landing and husband Kelly Koehn, of Prairie Village, KS; by her brother David Gay of St. Clair, MO; by her sister Peggy Hempelmann and husband DeWayne, of Anchorage, AK; by her grandchildren Cathy Dedert and husband Mike; Susan Luster and husband Mike; AJ Kaase and wife Leslie; Sherryl Cash and husband Danny; Brittney McGuffin and husband Al; Tresa George and TJ Ward; and Renee Carr and husband Kevin; by fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Mabel Gay; and by her husband Joseph Landing by one day. Rose was a Christian of the Lutheran faith, believing in the Lord as her Savior. During her working career she was a manager for AT&T Inc. for 34 years. After retirement, she enjoyed going on road trips with her lady friends and family vacations. She was an avid reader and an amazing cook. She loved to go shopping and enjoyed making quilts. Rose always looked forward to football season and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Rams and most recently the Kansas City Chiefs. What meant most to her was time spent with family and friends. She and Joe built their life together around their friends and family and their home was a revolving door for all of them. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever live in the hearts of their loved ones. A loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Pastor Duke West officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date at Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
