OBITUARY Phyllis Catherine Barnard of Villa Ridge, MO departed this life in Washington, MO on Saturday, February 22, 2025, having reached the age of eighty-seven years, two months and twenty-five days. Phyllis was born in New Castle, IN on November 28, 1937, daughter of Gerald Hahn and Mae Hahn nee Williams. On July 23, 1955 she was united in marriage to Joseph Edward Barnard, Sr. and five children came to bless this union. Phyllis is survived by her children, Joseph Barnard and wife, Jean, James Barnard, John Barnard and wife, Sandy, Teresa King and Jeff Barnard; by his sisters, Patricia Meyer and Delores; by nine grandchildren, Kelly, Richard and wife, Jennifer, Johnny, Jimmy and wife, Lauren, James, Erica, Jason, Jason Justin and Steven; by nineteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mae Hahn; by her husband, Joseph Barnard, Sr.; by her brothers, Richard Hahn and an infant brother; and by one grandson, James. Over her fifty-year career of being a Certified Nurses Assistant, she was employed by various nursing homes including Autumn View Gardens in Ellisville, MO, Cedar Craft in Valley Park, MO, Marymont in Eureka, MO, Turtle Creek in Indiana and Price Memorial in Eureka, MO. She enjoyed going out with her friends to eat, play bingo and play the lottery. What meant most to her was time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, as she did in theirs. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with services being officiated by her son, John and other additional family members. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair, MO. The family entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
