OBITUARY
Payton Kay Casby of St. Clair, MO, departed this life unexpectedly at her home, on Friday, February 20, 2026, having reached the age of sixteen years, ten months and seven days. She was born in St. Louis, MO on April 13, 2009 to Caleb Michael Casby and Stephanie Nicole Johnson. Though her time with us was far too short, Payton’s presence left an everlasting imprint on everyone life fortunate enough to know and love her.
Payton is survived by her loving father, Caleb Casby and wife, Heather and by her cherished brother, Connor Casby, whom she adored with all her heart. She is also survived by her mother, Stephanie Johnson and her sister, Katie Myrick, by her grandparents, Avery Myrick and wife, Karen, and Walter Casby and wife, Kathy. She will be deeply missed by her uncles, Josiah Casby and wife, Michelle, Noah Casby and wife, Ashley and Nick Casby and wife, Julie; by her great aunt, Stacy Geary and husband, Mike; as well as her many beloved cousins, Tristen, Ryleigh, Chloe, Luccas, Colby, Ellie, Gannon, Finn, Fletcher, Brooklyn, Corbin, Brody and Alex.
Payton was preceded in death by her beautiful great-grandmother, Betty Ford and by her best friend and grandmother, Karla Mahood, both of whom she loved dearly and who surely welcomed her with open arms.
Payton was truly a light in this world. Her smile had a way of brightening entire rooms, and her natural beauty and brilliance promised a future filled with possibility. She possessed a compassionate heart, and empathetic spirit and a boldness that made her unforgettable. Payton was a loyal friend to many, someone who lifted the others with kindness, humor and authenticity. Above all, she deeply and fiercely loved her dad and brother. The world is a little dimmer without Payton in it, but her warmth, her laughter and her beautiful spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her. May her memory be a blessing and a comfort to all who mourn her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Raymond Laramore officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a future scholarship at St. Clair High School in Payton’s name.
