Payton Kay Casby was born on April 13, 2009, in St. Louis, Missouri, and passed away unexpectedly on February 20, 2026, at her home in St. Clair, Missouri. Though her time with us was far too short, Payton’s presence left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Payton is survived by her loving father, Caleb (Heather) Casby, and her cherished brother, Connor Casby, whom she adored with all her heart. She is also survived by her mother, Stephanie Johnson, and her sister, Katie Johnson.
She will be deeply missed by her uncles Josiah (Michelle) Casby, Noah (Ashley) Casby, and Nick (Julie) Casby, as well as her many beloved cousins: Tristen, Ryleigh, Chole, Luccas, Colby, Ellie, Gannon, Finn, Fletcher, Brooklyn, Corbin, and Brody.
Payton was preceded in death by her beautiful great-grandmother, Betty Ford, and by her best friend and grandmother, Karla Mahood, both of whom she loved dearly and who surely welcomed her with open arms.
Payton was truly a light in this world. Her smile had a way of brightening entire rooms, and her natural beauty and brilliance promised a future filled with possibility. She possessed a compassionate heart, an empathetic spirit, and a boldness that made her unforgettable. Payton was a loyal friend to many, someone who lifted others with kindness, humor, and authenticity. Above all, she deeply and fiercely loved her dad and brother. The world is a little dimmer without Payton in it, but her warmth, her laughter, and her beautiful spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her.May her memory be a blessing and a comfort to all who mourn her.
