Patrick Vernon Henkel (1959-2024) Patrick was born in St. Louis, MO on October 19th, 1959 to Jerry Lee Henkel and Dolores June Henkel. Patrick met the love of his life, Valerie, in the year 1987 at a restaurant in Kirkwood, MO. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on February 7th, 1991, in House Springs, MO. They couldn't wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. Though he loved fishing and concert going, Patrick's favorite role was that as a grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being a grandpa. Patrick had a soft spot for his animals, treating each pet like a valuable family member. Patrick was passionate about his role as a carpenter, working as a roofer for many decades. Patrick also served proudly in the United States Army for several years. Everyone who knew Patrick knew how much he loved fishing, especially at his favorite fishing spot, Maramec Springs in St. James, MO. Patrick will always be remembered for his hard work and loving nature. We'll always imagine hearing him say "Improvise, adapt and overcome" one more time. We couldn't have asked for a better spouse, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, and will miss Patrick every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. Patrick was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Henkel, and is survived by his spouse, Valerie Henkel, children Christopher Henkel, Jonathan Henkel, Wesley Henkel, Cari Henkel and Bridget Collins, grandchildren, Ian, Lucas, Carter, Macy, Hailey and Kevin, Mother Dolores Henkel, sisters Debra Heiligtag and Peggy Henkel, many nieces and nephews, and many dogs and grand dogs. A celebration of his life will be held at Maramec Springs in St. James, MO at the Warren pavilion on August 3rd, 2024 at 11:00 am. Donations in his honor to the Missouri Conservation Department would be greatly appreciated.
