OBITUARY Otis Dwain Nelson of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Clair, MO on Thursday, June 8, 2023, having reached the age of seventy-nine years, eleven months and twenty-seven days. Otis was born in St. Louis, MO on June 12, 1943, son of Thomas Albert Nelson and Evelyn Oma Nelson nee Howard. As a young man he was blessed to have three children. About twenty-five years ago he began sharing his life with the love of his life, Christina Fagan. Otis is survived by the love of his life, Christina Fagan of St. Louis, MO; by three children, Tanya Bishop and husband, Tracy, of Union, MO, Stephanie Potter and husband, David, of Sparks, NV and Michael Conn of Des Moines, IA; by six siblings, Albert Nelson and wife, Sharon, of House Springs, MO, Shirley Martin and husband, Richard, of St. Charles, MO, Marvin "Larry" Nelson and wife, Sandy, of St. Louis, MO, Richard Nelson and wife, Marla, of St. Clair, MO, Sandy Wrinkle and husband, Mark, of St. Louis, MO and Tim Nelson and wife, Dottie, of St. Clair, MO; by three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bishop and boyfriend, Ezra Starr, Zachary Potter and wife, Amanda and Nicholas Potter; by two great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Corey Potter; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Evelyn Nelson; by one brother, Donald; by one sister, Betty "Leona" Nelson; and by one granddaughter, Alicia Bishop. During his working career he owned and operated Nelson Construction, being in business for over fifty years. He was a proud member of the Local Carpenter's Union in St. Louis, MO. Otis was also a member of St. Clair Elks Lodge #2651 in St. Clair, MO. He loved to fish, hunt, build things and play cards, especially Texas Hold'em. He was also tremendously generous with his time and talent and could often by heard saying "get the cooler Christina". What meant most to him was time spent with family and friends. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving companion, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Brother Brian Downey officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
