OBITUARY Nellie Ann Davis of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Clair, MO on Sunday, March 3, 2024, having reached the age of ninety-six years, eight months and twelve days. Nellie was born on the family farm near St. Clair, MO in Franklin County on June 20, 1927, daughter of Jerry Freeman Bailey and Josie Bailey nee Rock. On March 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to William Thomas Davis. Nellie is survived by one sister, Eileen Struck of Pensacola, FL; by many nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Josie Bailey; by her husband, William Davis; by nine siblings, Lawrence Bailey, Otis Bailey, Elmer Bailey, Eva Capehart, Cecil Whitworth, Ethel Murdick, Clara Hall, Alverda Sohn and Ada Bailey. Nellie was a Christian and longtime member of First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO, where she was very active in church functions. She went to school in a one room school house named Oklahoma District #92 about a mile from her home, graduating from eighth grade. Nellie later went on to earn her General Education Diploma. During her working career she was employed by International Shoe Company in St. Clair, MO from 1943 to 1982, retiring after thirty-nine years of service. Nellie also loved to travel, especially to Montana. A kind and loving sister, aunt, great, great-great and great-great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO and after 9:00 AM Friday, March 8, 2024 at First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 8, 2024 at First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. Interment will be in Midlawn Memorial Park in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO.
