OBITUARY Mona Lee Daugherty of High Ridge, MO departed this life in Fenton, MO on Friday, September 22, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, eleven months and twenty-one days. Mona was born in Lonedell, MO on October 13, 1934, daughter of Harvey Greeley Hafley and Verda Letha Hafley nee Lewis. On October 19, 1963 she was united in marriage to Mearl Daugherty and their families were joined as one. Mona is survived by seven children, Carol Wirth and husband, Herb, of Imperial, MO, Cindy Stephens of Logansport, IN, Mearl Daugherty of High Ridge, MO, Shelly Milam of High Ridge, MO, Robert Daugherty and spouse, Misty, of Cheshire, MA, Keith Daugherty and wife, Amy, of Dupo, IL, and Teresa Love of Fenton, MO; by one brother, Charlie Renshaw and wife, Jan, of Arnold, MO; by two sisters, Eunice Hatfield of Davisville, MO and Barbara Cook of Vibernum, MO; by her sister-in-law, Rose Daugherty of Summerville, SC; by eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Mona was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Verda Hafley; by her husband Mearl Daugherty; by two sons Mike French and Jerry French; by her infant brother Harlen Hafley; and two sisters Velma Martin and Shirley Hafley. Mona was a Christian and member of the Church of Christ in House Springs, MO. She was very active in the church and enjoyed spending time with her church ladies making quilts and donating them to area nursing homes. Mona started her professional career employed by White Castle in St. Louis, MO and then went on to employment at Spielberg's in Antonia, MO, H&J Electronics in High Ridge, MO, and Eagle Industries in Fenton, MO. She always considered her main career was being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed going to craft shows with her sisters, making MANY quilts, sewing, and crocheting. Mona loved to sing and play music on the guitar, banjo, and steel guitar. What meant most to her was time spent with and caring for her home, family, large extended, and many friends. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by all. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin, and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
