OBITUARY
Michael Ernest McGlynn of Union, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, February 27, 2026, having reached the age of eighty-three years, nine months and twenty-nine days. Michael was born in Lafayette, IN on April 29, 1942, son of Ernest D McGlynn and Lillian Hester McGlynn nee Poston. On June 6, 1961 in Willow Springs, MO, he was united in marriage to Susan Mae Morgan and one daughter came to bless this union.
Michael is survived by his wife, Susan McGlynn of Union, MO; by his granddaughter, Mallory Morris and fiancé, Dalton Combs, of Branson, MO; by his niece, Jacki Lee of Branson, MO; by his nephew, Scott McGlynn and wife, Mychelle, of Marshfield, MO; by his siblings-in-law, Robert Morgan and wife, Linda, of Lawrence, KS and Penny Gregory of Springfield, MO; by great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lillian McGlynn; by his daughter, Jill Diane McGlynn; and by his brother, John McGlynn.
Michael was a Christian and member of United Methodist Church in St. Clair, MO. After receiving his Master’s Degree in Education, he went on to teach for two years at St. Clair High School and twenty-eight years at Union Middle School. He was a Lions Club member and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, a sixty-one year member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Moolah Shriners for over fifty years, and also found purpose in helping children get admitted into Shriners Hospital for Children. Michael had a gift for building things, building an airplane, a 1980’s Spitfire race car and the house his family lived in for forty-eight years. He enjoyed being a private pilot, being a shop teacher, teaching children how to work with tools, woodworking and photography. One of his favorite memories was teaching his daughter to drive his extended cab, long bed pickup truck and getting her driver’s license. The love shared between family and friends, and the many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever.
A kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 5, 2026 at United Methodist Church in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Donna Schofield-Dolle officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, March 5, 2026, in Willow Springs City Cemetery in Willow Springs, MO. Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church or Agape House, both in St. Clair, MO. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
