Michael Edward Malady of Byrnes Mill, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, February 23, 2024, having reached the age of sixty-six years, one month and twenty days. Michael was born in St. Louis, MO on January 3, 1958, son of Richard Lee Malady, Sr. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have five children. On March 17, 2018 he began sharing his life with Debra Jean Hansel and they were united in marriage on February 20, 2024. Michael is survived by his wife, Debra Malady of Byrnes Mill, MO; by his children, Erika Malady of Los Angeles, CA, Michael Malady, II, of High Ridge, MO, Erin Spoon and husband, Kris, of Hazelwood, MO, Michelle Pelias and husband, Doug, of St. Charles, MO and Dana Perkins and husband, Dominic, of the state of ME; by eight siblings, Kim Gibson of Leasburg, FL, Rodney Malady and wife, Linda, of St. Louis, MO, Laura Ott and husband, Chris, of High Ridge, MO, Don Schmoele of St. Louis, MO, John Schmoele of St. Louis, MO, Tammy Whitman of Tipton, MO, Timmy Schmoele of St. Louis, MO and Karen Lawson of Tipton, MO; by his grandchildren, Madison Rose Jimenez and Lucas Pelias; by his special aunt Mary Malady Brown, and husband, Phillip, of Kennett, MO; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Richard, Sr. and Carlotta Malady; by four siblings, Richard Malady, Bruce Malady, Kris Byer and Nancy Schmoele; and by his grandparents, Maple and Rose Malady. Michael was a Christian and believed in the Lord as his Savior. Michael was proud to have served his country in the United States Navy, entering on February 11, 1975 and receiving his honorable discharge on November 9, 1976. During his working career he owned and operated his own contracting company, doing carpentry, plumbing, refrigeration and HVAC. He spent most of his career working out of the union hall of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 36 in St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler in the woods, working on cars and doing woodworking. He cherished the time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Tanya Jeffcoat officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Anaconda Community Cemetery in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
