OBITUARY Melvin Jackie Gaugh, known to most as Mel, was born on November 27, 1934 to James and Effie Gaugh nee Howard and was called home to the Lord on April 8, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty nee Willson; by his son Rob Gaugh and wife, Patricia; by his daughter Rhonda Stuckwish; by his grandchildren Adam Gaugh, Charles Gaugh, Daniel Stuckwish, Emily Stuckwish, Katherine Stuckwish and husband, Cody Hoover and Nicholas Stuckwish and wife, Maddy; and by 2 great-grandchildren Nora Stuckwish and Wilson Stuckwish; by his sister-in-law Jody Gaugh; and by nieces, nephews and many friends. Mel was preceded in death by his parents, James and Effie Gaugh; and by his son-in-law Mark Stuckwish. Mel was a quiet man of faith and a prayer warrior. Mel grew up in St Clair Missouri and graduated from St Clair High School. He spent his career as a Union Carpenter and always showed so much pride in his workmanship. Mel retired in 1995 but celebrated 70 years as a Union Member. His family was most important to him and they spent family time together boating, water skiing, camping and fishing. Mel was still slalom skiing at the age of 78. He had a love of flying and became a private pilot on April 15, 1976 owning 2 planes in his lifetime. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with friends through the hills of the Ozarks. He rode until the age of 82 when he sold his last motorcycle. He will be missed by all that knew him for his sense of humor and his Mel"isms" Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date.
