OBITUARY Matthew David Helton of Union, MO departed this life in St. Louis, MO on November 29, 2022, having reached the age of thirty-three years, five months and two days. Matthew was born in Washington, MO on June 7, 1989, son of David Joseph Helton and Michelle Ann Helton nee Stephens. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have one son. Matthew is survived by his son, Adam David Helton of Union, MO; by his mother, Michelle Helton and significant other, Donald Robertson, of Union, MO; by his father, David Helton of Lonedell, MO; by his siblings, Michael Helton and wife, Stephanie, of Sullivan, MO, Melissa Helton and boyfriend, Derek Pritchett, of Sullivan, MO, Morgan Helton of Lonedell, MO and Mason Helton and girlfriend, Hope Jackson, of Union, MO; by his nieces and nephews, Brian Helton, Brooklyn Helton, Breanna Helton, Hayden Helton, Lillian Helton and Skylar Grenier; by aunts, uncles, great-aunts and uncles, cousins and many friends. Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Janet & Roy Eckerle, Richard Stephens and Ronald and Rhonda Helton. Matthew was a Christian, having been raised in the Baptist faith at 1st Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO and believing in the Lord as his Savior. He had a variety of interests throughout his life including listening to music, playing video games, enjoying food and watching movies. Matthew loved taking walks with Adam, shooting guns, getting tattoos and just "chillin". What meant most to him was time spent with family. His son was his pride and joy and he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will never be forgotten and cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, great-nephew, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family for Adam.
