Obituary

OBITUARY Mary Ann Hurst of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Clair on Friday, March 28, 2025, having reached the age of seventy-seven years, three months and twenty-three days. Mary was born in St. Louis, MO on December 5, 1947, daughter of Norbert Franek and Bernice Franek nee Suchard. On February 2, 1974 she was united in marriage to Aldeny Leo Hurst, Jr., known to all as Al, and two children came to bless this union. Mary is survived by her husband, Al Hurst, Jr. of St. Clair, MO; by her children, Kimberly Schuchmann of St. Clair, MO and Eric Hurst and wife, Annie, of Washington, MO; by one brother, Richard Franek and wife, Mary, of Gerald, MO; by her brother-in-law, David Hurst and wife, Anna, of St. Clair, MO; by her grandchildren, Braeden Schuchmann, Chase Schuchmann, Madeline Hurst and Lucille Hurst; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Bernice Franek; and by one brother, Wayne Franek, Sr. Mary was a Christian of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. During her working career she was employed at Steelweld Corporation in St. Clair, MO as a punch press operator, retiring after over ten years of service to the company. She enjoyed doing embroidery, spending time with her family, and causing mayhem wherever she went. Her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, as she did in theirs. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday, April 4, 2025 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home with a memorial service at 6:00, officiated by Father Eric Kunz. A private committal will take place at a later date.
