Marilyn Marlene Carter, known to all as Marlene, of St. Clair, MO departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-six years, eleven months and twenty-eight days. Marlene was born in Washington, MO on December 11, 1936, daughter of Lloyd John Pinnell and Mildred Clarissa Pinnell nee Stahlman. On June 11, 1955 she was united in marriage to Sam Wayne Carter and two children came to bless this union. Marlene is survived by her husband, Sam Carter of St. Clair, MO; by her children, Janice Lee Dierker and husband, Warren, of Lonedell, MO and Larry Carter and wife, Dianna, of Pacific, MO; by her sister, Judy Sullivan and husband, Dale, of St. Clair, MO; by her brother, Tom Pinnell and wife, Marcia, of Chapin, SC; by her sister-in-law, Joyce Hawkins and husband, Harold, of St. Clair, MO; by her grandchildren, Kelly Wayne Dierker and wife, Julie, of Richwoods, MO, Janell Talleur and husband, Greg, of St. Clair, MO, Janette Blanner and husband, Michael, of Washington, MO, Ryan Christopher Carter and wife, Detta, of Pacific, MO and Brianna Renee Bundy and husband, Jake, of Wildwood, MO; by seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Mildred Pinnell. Marlene was a Christian and longtime member of Prospect Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO, where she served as church clerk for fifty-four years. She made caring for her home and family her job in life and never tired of it. Marlene enjoyed doing crochet and watching Sam play sports, especially horse shoes. She took pride in tending to her garden and canning her produce. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and at one point in time had watched all of her grandchildren. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Prospect Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO with Rev. Steve Hodges officiating, assisted by Rev. Dick Hinson and Rev. John Pursley. Interment will be in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to Prospect Baptist Church. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
