Obituary

Marie Eileen Johnston Hinson of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Washington, MO, on August 13, 2021, having reached the age of ninety-two years, ten months and thirteen days. Marie was born in Sullivan, MO, on September 30, 1928, daughter of Harry Cleveland Lack and Hulda Pauline Lack nee Stricker, known to all as Pauline. On April 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Charles Raymond Johnston, known to all as Ray, and three children came to bless this union. On July 3, 1992, she was united in marriage to Donald Richard Hinson and their families were joined as one. Marie is survived by three children, Ronnie Johnston of St. Clair, MO, Sandie Brown of Lonedell, MO, and Jean Rae Courtney and companion, Danny Rampani, of St. Clair; by two step-children, Eric Hinson of St. Clair and Cathy Baumann and husband, Steven, of Fenton, MO; by five grandchildren, Lindsey Schuetz and companion, Ryan McKorkle, of Sullivan, MO, Kim Jordan and husband, Rick, of Nixa, MO, Janay Hansen and husband, Scott, of Springdale, AR, Mitsi Campbell and companion, Ed Schuenemeyer, of Sullivan and Joshua Courtney of St. Clair; by eight great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Pauline Lack; by her husbands, Ray Johnston and Donald Hinson; by her step-son, Mike Hinson; by her sons-in-law, Kirby Courtney and Ivan Brown; by her step-daughter-in-law, Shelley Hinson, and by eight siblings, Paul, Howard and Monroe Lack, Alma Reed, Elsie Riley, Edith Cahill, Mabel Hall and Alvina Hopkins. Marie was a Christian and longtime member of Moselle Baptist Church, St. Clair, MO. She had made caring for her home and family her career in life and she never tired of her job. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening and raising beautiful flowers. Marie was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her family. Fishing was another of her hobbies. In recent years, she enjoyed reading doing word search puzzles. After moving to Crabapple Village, Marie enjoyed participating in many activities and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her many friends there. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she enjoyed all the great times they shared. A devoted and loving mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, step-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Dick Hinson officiating. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery, Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to Prospect Cemetery or to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
