Marian Kay York, nee McDermott, of Lonedell departed this life Monday, September 21, 2026 in Washington, having reached the age of seventy-one years, seven months and twenty-six days.

Marian was born in Washington on January 26, 1955, daughter of Robert Raymond McDermott and wife Bonnie McDermott McBride, nee Manion. On August 30, 1975, Marian was united in marriage to Randy B. York and two children came to bless this marriage.

She is survived by her husband, Randy B. York, Lonedell, by her children, Zachariah A. York of High Ridge and Nicole Wink of St. Clair; by siblings John McDermott (Carol), Brenda Thurman (Denny), Lena Dierker (Jimmy), Paul McDermott (Vicki), and Dottie Nelson (Tim); by her grandchildren, Macey, Tristen, and Landon. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many friends.

Marian passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Marian devoted her entire adult life to caring for the people she loved most, her husband and her children. Along with her three grandchildren, they were her pride and joy and the most important part of her life. She wanted nothing more than to see her family happy, healthy, and successful. She always hoped to give her children and grandchildren a better life and worked tirelessly to make sure they knew they were loved and supported.

Marian found her greatest happiness in spending time with her family. She was a wonderful cook and loved nothing more than bringing everyone together around her table. Holidays and family gatherings were especially important to her. She always wanted to cook the entire meal herself, making sure there was plenty for everyone and that everything was just right. Her food was one of the many ways she showed her love. The meals she prepped, the holidays she hosted, and the time spent together created memories her family will treasure forever.

She was fiercely supportive of her children and grandchildren and took pride in everything they did. Whether it was a big accomplishment or one of life’s everyday moments, Marian was there to encourage them, celebrate with them, and remind them how proud she was. She gave of herself freely and was one of the most giving people you would ever meet. She would often put the needs and happiness of others before her own.

Marian was raised in the Catholic faith and attended grade school at St. Clare Catholic School. She graduated from St. Clair High School in 1973. Her faith, family, and the relationships she built throughout her life were deeply important to her.

Marian was also blessed with the special gift of having built in best friends in her sisters. She cherished those relationships throughout her entire life and made sure to nurture the bond they shared. Her sisters were not only family, but lifelong friends and an important part of her life. She also cherished the relationships she shared with her brothers.

Marian’s life was one of love, sacrifice, generosity, and devotion. She spent her life taking care of others making sure her family was provided for, and doing whatever she could to make life a little better for the people she loved. She gave her family a lifetime of memories, traditions, laughter, meals around the table, and most importantly, unconditional love.

Marian is dearly loved and deeply missed. Her family will carry her love with them in everything that they do and will forever be grateful for the life she gave them and the countless ways she showed them how much they mattered.
