OBITUARY Marian Sue Rudd of St. Clair, MO departed this life in Washington, MO on Saturday, October 21, 2023, having reached the age of seventy-seven years, seven months and two days. Marian was born in Sullivan, MO on March 19, 1946, daughter of Edward Thomas Marks and Mildred Marie Marks nee Cunningham. Marian was united in marriage as a young woman to Leonard Ely. Two children were born to this marriage; Lon Edward Ely and Laniece Jeanette Ely Wagner. In midlife she was united in marriage to Frederick Rudd. Marian is survived by her son, Lon Edward Ely and wife, Gay, of St. Clair, MO; by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mildred Marks; by her husband, Frederick Rudd; by her daughter, Laniece Wagner; by her brother, Jim Marks; and by her sister, Jane Lechten. Marian was a Christian, having been raised in the Baptist faith and believing in the Lord as her Savior. During her working career she was employed as a Dental Hygienist for Dr. Tierney in Sullivan, MO for many years and as a stocker for Walmart in Union, MO. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Sullivan Chapter #105. Family meant everything to her and she was thrilled to have witnessed the marriages of her grandchildren. Marian was always invited to help with child care and loved to guide and teach them all. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with Eastern Star service at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 27, 2023 at the funeral home with Rev. Dick Hinson officiating. Interment will be in IOOF Cemetery in Sullivan, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital.
