OBITUARY Mae Elizabeth Smith of St. Clair, MO departed this life in Washington, MO on April 3, 2022, having reached the age of seventy-one years, ten months and twenty-seven days. Mae was born in Washington, MO on May 7, 1950, daughter of Conrad Kenneth Mueller, Sr. and Mae Caroline Mueller nee Brewer. On November 10, 1968 she was united in marriage to Richard Winfred Leath and seven children came to bless this union. On June 3, 2000 she was united in marriage to Robert James Smith, Jr. Mae is survived by three sons, Kenneth Mueller of St. Clair, MO, Miles Leath and wife, Pamela, of Richwoods, MO and Bobby Leath and wife, Maureen, of St. Clair, MO; by her daughters, Loretta Archer and husband, Keith, of Dixon, MO, betty Brown and husband, Rick, of St. Clair, MO and Christine Fenner and husband, John, of St. Clair, MO; by two sisters, Glenda "Rae" Busse and significant other, Bob Smith, of Sullivan, MO and Shirley Drennen and husband, John, of St. Clair, MO; by eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Mae Mueller; by her husbands, Robert Smith, Jr. and Richard Leath; by one son, Richard D. Leath; by her brothers, Dee Mueller, Conrad "Connie" Mueller, Jr. and Jimmy Williams; and by two sisters, Mary Drennen and Betty Kelley. Mae was a Christian and was a member of Duly Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. During her working career, besides caring for her home and family, she was employed by Sunset Health Care Center in Union, MO as a nurse's aide for fifteen years. She was an avid reader and loved to sew and do embroidery. Mae also loved to raise and care for flowers in her flower garden. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and held a very special place in her heart. She cherished the time spent with them and the many precious memories they created. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Raymond Laramore officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
