OBITUARY Laverne Margaret Head of St. Clair, MO departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on September 30, 2022, having reached the age of eighty-six years, two months and twenty-four days. Laverne was born in St. Louis, MO on July 6, 1936, daughter of William Patrick Kavanaugh and Veronica Kavanaugh nee Knobloch. On February 23, 1957 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Patrick Head and four children came to bless this union. Laverne is survived by her children, James Head and wife, Nancy, of Brandon, MS, Daniel Head and wife, Robyn, of Union, MO, Christopher Head of Sullivan, MO Kathleen Fuchs and husband, Zach, of St. Clair, MO; by one sister, Joyce Hale and husband, Bob, of Arnold, MO; by her sister-in-law, Sandra Lotich of St. Louis County, MO; by twelve grandchildren, Aaron Head and wife, Brandi, Matthew Head and wife, Cebrina, Andrew Head and wife, Elise, Amber Lawson-Boothby and husband, Matt, Darrin Head, Tyler Head, McKayla Head, Maili Jonas and husband, Evan, Zachary Wheat and wife, Stephanie, Emily Wheat, Ashley Fuchs and fiancé, Lance Perkins and Charlie Fuchs and wife, Mandy; by sixteen great-grandchildren, Ethan, Aiden and Aubrey Head and Baby Boy Head, Gabriel, Keegan, Maxine and Oliver Lawson-Boothby, Liam, Maxton, Gavin, Averie and Scarlett Wheat, Christian Bell and Cordell and Wynona Perkins; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, William and Veronica Kavanaugh; by her husband, Lawrence Head; by her brothers, William, Cliff and Joe Kavanaugh; and by one sister, Virginia VanMeter. Laverne was a Christian of the Catholic faith and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Union, MO. During her working career she worked as a civil servant for the United States Army, helping with transporting equipment, and as a claims adjuster for United Van Lines. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in St. Clair, MO, and the Daughters of Isabelle Union MO. Laverne was an avid reader, enjoyed exercising and loved to paint. She took pride in caring for her home and family and caring for Lawrence. The love shared between them all and the many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. A private committal will take place at a later date. The family entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
