OBITUARY Larry Lee Saling, Sr. of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Clair on Saturday, November 23,2024, having reached the age of seventy-six years, two months and twenty-eight days. Larry was born in Washington, MO on August 26, 1948, son of William James Saling, Sr. and Kathryn Virginia Saling nee Hansel. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have two children. Larry is survived by his daughter, Dawn White and husband, Grant, of Newton, IL; by three brothers, William J. Saling, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Carthage, MO, Terry Saling of St. Clair, MO and Chris Saling and wife, Debbie, of St. Clair, MO; by his sister, Tammy Hofmeister and husband, Craig, of St. Clair, MO; by his sisters-in-law, Charlene Saling of St. Clair, MO and Terri Saling of St. Clair, MO; by his grandchildren, Maddison White and Morgan White; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William, Sr. and Kathryn Saling; by his son, Larry L. Saling, Jr., known to all as Bub; and by two brothers, Michael Saling and Patrick Saling. Larry was a Christian, having been raised in and attended Parkway Church of the Nazarene in St. Clair, MO. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, entering on May 3, 1967 and receiving his honorable discharge on May 2, 1970. Larry was a member of American Legion Post 347 in St. Clair, MO and also a member of VFW Post 2482 in St. Clair, MO where he served as Jr. Vice Commander, Vice Commander, Post Commander and currently was serving as a Trustee. He spent over thirty years in the tree service trade, employed by both Asplundh Tree Service, Shade Tree and Wrights Tree Service. Larry was a proud member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2. In his younger years he enjoyed going fishing and playing softball. He also enjoyed playing horseshoe and riding his Harley Davidson. Larry loved spending time with his friends and the Legion and VFW and especially cherished the time spent with his daughter and granddaughters. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with a joint American Legion and VFW Service. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to either American Legion Post 347 or VFW Post 2482.
