Kirk Butenhoff

OBITUARY Kirk Butenhoff of Lonedell, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on May 30, 2022, having reached the age of sixty-two years, two months and twenty-seven days. Kirk was born in Washington, MO on March 3, 1960, son of Robert Charles Butenhoff, Jr. and Eva Marie Butenhoff nee Lefler. Kirk is survived by his mother, Eva Butenhoff of Lonedell, MO; by his brothers, Lance Butenhoff and wife, LaDonna, of Union, MO and Craig Butenhoff and wife, Stephanie, of Lonedell, MO; by his sisters, Michele Jones and husband, Roger, of Washington, MO and Renee Tlapek and husband, Paul, of Cape Girardeau, MO; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Kirk was preceded in death by his father, Robert Butenhoff, Jr.; by his aunt, Delores Brown; by his uncle, Ralph E. Lefler; by his brother-in-law, Michael W. Brown; and by one nephew, Mark-Robert W. Brown. Kirk was a Christian and long time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO, where he served as deacon. During his working career he was employed as a Certified Sterile Processer Technician at St. Luke’s Hospital, retiring after forty-three years of service to the hospital. He was proud to have served as a volunteer fire fighter for the St. Clair Fire Protection District for thirty years. Kirk was also a member of the Franklin County Singles Club. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, enjoyed watching the games and going to spring training. He also loved to travel. Although he had no children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be treasured by them all forever. A kind and loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO with Brother Jeff Scott officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Backstoppers. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
