Joyce Ann Smith of Villa Ridge, MO departed this life in Branson, MO on Thursday, June 20, 2024, having reached the age of fifty-nine years, two months and twenty-nine days. Joyce was born in St. Louis, MO on March 22, 1965, daughter of Eugene Paul Holt and Doris Gene Holt nee Hawthorne. On November 15, 2003 she was united in marriage to Fernandez Alfred Smith, Jr. and one son came to bless this union. Joyce is survived by her husband, Fernandez Smith, Jr. of Villa Ridge, MO; by her son, Anthony Smith of Villa Ridge, MO; by six siblings, Brenda Garavaglia of St. Louis, MO, Randy Holt and wife, Shirley, of St. Clair, MO, Robert Dismang and wife, Robin, of Union, MO, Mike Holt of Cuba, MO, Gina Roberts and husband, Steve, of Ellington, MO and Jimmy Holt of Villa Ridge, MO; by aunts and uncles, Lavern Hawthorne of St. Louis, MO, Leroy Hawthorne and wife, Carol, of High Ridge, MO, Jim Hawthorne of St. Louis, MO, Lois Bell of St. Louis, MO and Pearl Holt of Dexter, MO; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Doris Holt; and by three siblings, Dearl Holt, Peggy Holt and Cherie Montgonery. Joyce was a Christian of the Baptist faith and member of First Baptist Church in Union, MO. During her working career she was employed as a machine operator for Precision Rebuilders in St. Clair, MO, Pendaflex in Union, MO and True Manufacturing in Pacific, MO. She enjoyed playing bingo, going shopping and making quilts with her aunt Lois. Joyce also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, arts and crafts, baking and decorating cakes. Her son was her pride and joy and she loved him with all her heart. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished forever. A kind and loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, niece, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Phillip Hudson officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
