OBITUARY Joyce Jean Phillips of St. Clair, MO departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on June 9, 2022, having reached the age of eighty-two years, seven months and twenty-six days. Joyce was born in St. Clair, MO on October 14, 1939, daughter of John Nelson Bay and Lucy Mary Bay nee Vest. On April 6, 1957 she was united in marriage to Theodore Edward Phillips and two children came to bless this union. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Pamela Haynes and husband, Mark, of Robertsville, MO; by her son, Theodore E. Phillips, Jr., known to all as Ted, and wife, Mindy, of St. Clair, MO; by her brother, Ronald Bay and wife, Connie, of Bowling Green, MO; by her grandchildren, James Haynes and wife, Shannon, of Robertsville, MO, Jeffery Haynes and wife, Danielle, of Knob Noster, MO and Alise Phillips and fiancé, Brad Edmonds, of St. Clair, MO; by her great-grandchildren, Cameron, Evan, Lucas, Evangeline and Parker; by her special sister, Phyllis Wideman of St. Clair, MO; by her special family, Tom and Julie Pewitt of St. Clair, MO; by her special nieces, Diana DeClue of Union, MO and Jill Middleton of St. Clair, MO; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucy Bay; by her husband, Ted Phillips, Sr.; by two brothers, Johnnie Bay and Eugene Bay; and by her sister, Diane McCord. Joyce was a Christian and member of First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. During her working career she was employed as the head cook and Cornerstone Christian Academy in St. Clair for many years before becoming head cook for St. Clair Elementary School, retiring after many years of service to the district. Joyce was a member of Order of Eastern Star St. Clair Chapter 96. She was past president of Elks Lodge 2651 Ladies Auxiliary and present member of the lodge. Joyce enjoyed shopping and was a talented seamstress. She loved to travel, take trips with the bank and visit various locations such as Lake of the Ozarks. Canada, New York, Niagara Falls and Israel. What meant most to her was time spent with family. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart and babysitting them brought her great joy. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be forever cherished. A kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and special friend to many. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Jim Plymale officiating. Interment will be in New Chapel Hill Cemetery in Sullivan, MO. Memorials may be made to New Chapel Hill Cemetery.
