OBITUARY Josie Bigley, "Miss Josie", Julia Josephina Gomez Trujillo Bigley departed in her sleep, while at her daughter's home in North Port, Florida, with the love of her family and friends, on Friday, September 29, 2023, having reached the age of One Hundred Two Years, Four Months and Three Days. "Miss Josie" was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on May 26, 1921, daughter of Maria Lucila Nunez Trujillo Gomez and Jose Rivera Gomez. On December 31, 1943, she was united in marriage to Melvin Lawn Bigley of St Clair, MO who preceded her in death on November 4, 1990. Two daughters, blessed this union. Miss Josie is survived by her daughters, Ana Lucila Bigley Wideman "Ann" of Sullivan MO and Janie Louise Bigley Moore of North Port, Florida. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Lee Roy Wideman (Diana), St Clair, MO, Erick Michael Wideman (Renee), Christopher Anthony Velez, Garland, Texas, Jesse Hamilton Moore, Tyler, Texas, Cameron Elizabeth Horse (Phillip), Blanchard, Oklahoma. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Timothy Melvin Wideman, Chad Eugene Wideman, Samantha Lynn Piles (Jacob), Briana Ackert, Kenedy Moore, Julia Moore, Ella Horse, Phillip Andrew "PJ". Miss Josie is also survived by two great great grandchildren, Paisley Kaydon Wideman and Wrenley Jean Piles. She is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Josie was preceded in death by grandsons, Terry Grover and Jerry Melvin. Josie played violin and was employed by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico at the Consolate in San Juan as a Spanish/English interpreter. She also was secretary to The Director of the School of Nursing in San Juan, PR prior to marrying Melvin Bigley and moving to Missouri. She helped for many years fundraising for local government, she was a strong hardworking member of REACT. She strongly supported St Clair High School Alumni Association, St Jude Children's Research Hospital, VFW, and DAV. She was a devoted Catholic. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband Mel, and she took art classes throughout her later years. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am Saturday October 21, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Internment will be in Crestview Cemetery, St. Clair, MO. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Clair Highschool Alumni Association to help any graduating senior achieve their life's goals.
