OBITUARY John Keith Sherrell, Sr. of St. Clair, MO departed this life in Union, MO on Thursday, November 9, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-two years and six days. John was born in Kirkwood, MO on November 3, 1941, son of Fredrick Lewis Sherrell and Caroline Sherrell nee Putz. On September 25, 1965 he was united in marriage to Billie June Dacus and three children came to bless this union. John is survived by his wife, Billie Sherrell of St. Clair, MO; by his children, Vickie Lashley and husband, Steven, of Hillsboro, MO, John Sherrell, Jr. of St. Clair, MO and Valerie O'Daniel and husband, Robert, of St. Clair, MO; by three brothers, James Sherrell and wife, Sue, of Union, MO, Wayne Sherrell and wife, Judy, of Cedar Hill, MO and Raymond Sherrell and wife, Donna, of Cedar Hill, MO; by six sisters, Jené Sherrell of Nashville, TN, Mary Drennon of House Springs, MO, Linda Diekmann of Eureka, MO, Laura Hyde of Flippen, AR, Lela Ege and husband, Eric, of Oakville, MO and Loraine Rose and husband, Todd, of Benton, AR; by his grandchildren, Wendy Lashley and husband, Parrick Grove, Scott Lashley, Erica Huskey and husband, Kyle, Sarah O'Daniel-Tate and husband, Jacob, and Shawn O'Daniel; by five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Caroline Sherrell; by two brothers, Fred and Wendell Sherrell; by two sisters, Judy Heinlein and Susan Ford; and by a great-great-graddaughter, Lauren Lashley. John was a Christian, having been raised in the Lutheran faith and believing in the Lord as his Savior. During his working career he owned and operated John K. Sherrell Construction Company since 1970. He was a proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. John had a passion for shooting guns and bows, enjoyed going hunting and fishing and doing woodwork. He loved taking care of his property and making it beautiful. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great and great-great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Raymond Laramore officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
