OBITUARY John Edward Reed of St. Clair, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, June 6, 2025, having reached the age of eighty-six years, four months and twenty-eight days. John was born in St. Clair, MO on January 9, 1939, son of John Lee Reed and Hallie Louise Reed nee Klepper. On September 27, 1958 he was united in marriage to Margaret Darlene Love and they were blessed with three daughters. John is survived by his daughters, Sheila Reichle and husband, Mark, of Wildwood, MO, Shelly Young of St. Clair, MO and Sheri Gardner and husband, Cliff, of Lebanon, MO; by his grandchildren, Andrea Reichle of Wildwood, MO, Alex Reichle of Huntsville, AL and Brody Young and girlfriend, Lizz Tucker, of Union, MO; by his great-grandchildren, Cali Young and Cason Young; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hallie Reed; by his wife, Margaret Reed; and by his infant son, Kelly John Reed. John was a Christian of the Baptist faith and believed in the Lord as his Savior. During his working career he was employed by Daimler-Chrysler Corporation, retiring after forty years of service to the company. John was a proud member of United Auto Workers Local 110 in St. Louis, MO. After his retirement he did upholstery, car interiors and soft tops out of his shop at home. He was a founding member of St. Clair Elks Lodge #2651, the St. Clair Jaycee's and a member of the Route 66 Car Club. He restored a 1946 Plymouth Coupe and a 1948 International Panel Wagon and loved riding four wheelers in the mountains in Colorado. John also enjoyed riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Pastor John Pursley officiating. Interment will be in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Clair Elks Lodge #2651.
