OBITUARY Jerry Dean Landing of Sullivan, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on October 5, 2022, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, eight months and five days. Jerry was born in Stanton, MO on January 30, 1934, son of Albert Leo Landing and Gertha Corneil Landing nee Pilkenton, known to most as Gertie. On August 10, 1957 he was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Williams and seven children came to bless this union. Jerry is survived by his wife, Virginia Landing of Sullivan, MO; by five children, Bonnie Berkel and husband, David, of Sullivan, MO, Verdean Vaughan and husband, Dale, of St. Clair, MO, Nadine Mueller and husband, Steve, of Washington, MO, Jason A. Landing and wife, Adina, of Sullivan, MO and Stephanie Landing of Sullivan, MO; by ten grandchildren, Benjamin Berkel and wife Jamie, Kandice McCuskey and husband Garan, Lee Vaughan and wife Valerie, Daleesa Curet and husband Stephen, Jerrell Vaughan and wife Allie, Ian Mueller, Sydnee Hammer and husband Tyler, Jason L. Landing, Easton Landing and Hunter Landing; by twelve great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Landing, Gertie Landing Brown and Lawrence Brown; by his brother, Leo Landing; by his sister, Betty Meyer; by two sons, Robert Landing and Jerry Lee Landing; and by one grandson, Adam Landing. Jerry was a Christian and member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sullivan, MO. He owned and operated Jerry Landing Moving Service, a company he started in 1970, and then started Indian Creek Sand and Gravel in 1982, working until his retirement. Jerry had a variety of interests throughout his life but riding horses was his first love. He was an avid hunter, marksman, gun collector, and has the trophies to prove it. Jerry also enjoyed flying his plane to vacation and hunting spots. Although he loved working, farming and travelling, what meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and the many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Dick Hinson officiating, assisted by Rev. Fred Miller. Interment will be in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to either New Hope Baptist Church in Sullivan, MO, St. Clair Southern Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO or Grace Baptist Church in Union, MO.
