OBITUARY Jeanette Louise Long of Union, MO departed this life in Pacific, MO on Friday, March 15, 2024, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, two months and six days. Jeanette was born in Kirkwood, MO on January 10, 1936, daughter of Clarence Ruder and Margaret Ruder nee Kemp. On May 5, 1956 she was united in marriage to Charles Kenneth Long and six children came to bless this union. Jeanette is survived by her children, Vicky Gills and husband, Matthew, of St. Clair, MO, Rodney Long and wife, Kelly, of Robertsville, MO, Gale Heideman and husband, Jim, Sr., of Lonedell, MO, Kenneth Long of Beaufort, MO, Cindy Brinker and husband, Vernon, of Villa Ridge, MO and Kevin Long and wife, Kim, of Lonedell, MO; by two sisters, Marge Korn of High Ridge, MO and Loretta Gorrell of Bland, MO; by seventeen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Margaret Ruder; by her husband, Charles Long; by her brother, Clarence "Skip" Ruder; and by two sisters, Marion Wenz and Dorothy "Dot" Jostes. Jeanette was a Christian and member of St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO and had also attended St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Krakow, MO. She was employed by Hazel's in Washington, MO as a sewing machine operator for twenty years. Jeanette enjoyed sewing, was a very skilled seamstress and had made the stage curtains for the Lonedell R-14 School in Lonedell, MO, as well as those in Worther in Castlewood, MO. She also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden and canning her produce. Jeanette loved to go fishing, feed and watch the birds and crochet items for weddings and baby showers. She had a special affection for her pet dog, Sofie. What meant most to her was caring for her home and family. Her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart and she cherished the many memories they created together. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society.
