OBITUARY Jeanette Lois Bruns of Ironton, MO departed this life, at her home, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, having reached the age of eighty-nine years, seven months and three days. Jeanette was born in Washington, MO on February 27, 1936, daughter of Carl Edward Flora and Opal Lucille Flora nee Wagner. On July 24, 1955 she was united in marriage to Charles Leroy Bruns known to all as Pokey, and two children came to bless this union. Jeanette is survived by her children, Diane McHenry of Ironton, MO and Denny Bruns and significant other, Michelle Schaefer, of Sullivan, MO; by her grandchildren, Valerie Searcy, Vincent Duncil and wife, Samantha and Erica Buddemeyer and husband, Matt; by her great-grandchildren, Sofia & Quinton Searcy, Michael & Madison Duncil and Ava & Amelia Buddemeyer; by one brother, Tom Flora and wife, Phyllis, of Shawnee, OK; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Opal Flora; by her husband, Charles Bruns; by her brother, Dickie Flora; and by her son-in-law, Chuck McHenry. Jeanette was a Christian of the Baptist faith and member of First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO, where she played piano and sang and was very active in many church functions. In her varied working career she was employed as a transcriptionist for Missouri Baptist Hospital, a secretary for Ramsey Tool & Die, a flight attendant for TWA and American Airlines, drove a school bus for the Ferguson-Florissant School District, was a substitute teacher for the Washington School District and a cashier for Schnucks. Jeanette was also a member of the Red Hat Society in St. Clair, MO. She assisted her husband Charles in the building of their home on Mill Hill Road where they lived for fifty years, loved spending time outdoors, whether hiking or camping. She also loved traveling around the country, and the world, with Charles to visit with family and friends. What meant most to her was time spent with family and the time spent with them will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO, with Rev. Raymond Laramore officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the church. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
