OBITUARY Hugh Allen Gromer, known to all as Allen, of Union, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, June 25, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-three years, nine months and twenty days. Allen was born in Kennett, MO on September 5, 1939, son of Ernest Singleton Gromer and Addie Gromer nee Mason. On June 25, 1960 he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Ridge and two children came to bless this union. Allen is survived by his son, Mark Gromer of Union, MO; by his brother, Cecil Gromer and wife, Margaret, of Columbia, MO; by three sisters-in-law, Marlene Lindsay and husband, Harold, of Dexter, MO, Lenora Bishop of Dexter, MO and Remona Plummer of Bloomfield, MO; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Addie Gromer; by his wife, Norma Gromer; by his daughter, Stacey Gromer-Gabel; by two sisters-in-law, Louise Duncan and Vivian Duncan; and by his brother-in-law, James Duncan. Allen was a Christian and member of Landmark United Pentecostal Church in Jefferson City, MO where he was a past member of the church board. During his working career he owned and operated his own truck, hauling freight over the road. He had a passion for playing golf and old cars. What meant most to him was time spent with his family and friends. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Pastor Scott Breedlove officiating, assisted by Brother Nathan Schmitz. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the family.
