OBITUARY Hilda Lois Quertermous of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Clair, MO on Thursday, March 16, 2023, having reached the age of ninety-three years, one month and four days. Hilda was born in Marion, KY on February 12, 1930, daughter of John William Baker and Martha Ann Baker nee Conger. On January 17, 1948 Hilda was united in marriage to Floyd Quertermous and three children came to bless this union. Hilda is survived by two sons, Rodger Quertermous and wife, Nancy, of St. Clair, MO and Mark Quertermous and wife, Diane, of Houston, TX; by her grandchildren, Brittani Quertermous and fiancé, Jeff Miller, of Austin, TX, Danielle Hofstra and husband, Brian, of St. Clair, MO and Bethany Quertermous of Denver, CO; by her great-grandchildren, Brantley Gauer, McKinlee Gauer, Addyson Hofstra, Chase Hofstra and Xander Hofstra; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Baker; by her infant son, Ricky Quertermous; by her brother, Ercel Baker; and by her sisters, Lucille Lystila and Sylvia Teague. As a young girl she attended Mattoon-Shady Grove High School in Shady Grove, Kentucky. During her working career she was employed by several small factories in the area and retired after 13 years in the housekeeping department of St. John's Mercy Hospital, Washington, MO. Hilda loved decorating the house, especially at Christmas time. She also loved working in her flower garden, painting and doing cross stitching. What meant most to her was time spent with family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished the time spent with them. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be remembered by them all. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Hilda's final wish was to benefit humanity by donating her body to science. The family of Hilda Lois Quertermous entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
