OBITUARY Helen Marie Sullivan of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Clair, MO on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, having reached the age of eighty-four years, ten months and twenty-nine days. Helen was born in St. Clair, MO on September 8, 1940, daughter of Eugene Forrest Lewis and Verna Lillie Lewis nee Huff. As a young woman she was united in marriage and blessed to have three children. On June 4, 1988 she was united in marriage to Thomas Patrick Sullivan. Helen is survived by two children, Kelly Tate and wife, Becky, of St. Clair, MO and Kim Sculthorpe and husband, Robert, of Festus, MO; by her brother, Ed Lewis and wife, Paulette, of Eureka, MO; by her grandchildren, Nathan Tate and wife, Lauren of St. Clair, MO, Jeremy Tate and wife, Dana, of Eureka, MO and Ashley Axtetter and husband, Jeremy, of Festus, MO ; by her great-grandchildren, Grace Payne and husband, Justin, Braden Tate, Ella Tate, Reese Tate, Laken Tate, Kennedy Tate, Oscar Tate, Laine Axtetter and Caleb Axtetter; by her great-great-grandson, Jack Payne; by her dear friends, Joe & Dawn Vinson; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Verna Lewis; by her husband, Thomas Sullivan; and by one son, Kevin Tate. Helen was a Christian and member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sullivan, MO. During her working career she was employed by Farmers & Merchants Bank in St. Clair, MO for over thirty years, retiring as Vice President of the bank. She was a previous member of Order of Eastern Star, St. Clair Chapter 96. In her younger years she loved to go water skiing. Helen enjoyed doing crochet and playing the piano when she was able. She also enjoyed watching television shopping networks and old classic movies and had a special fondness for her pets. What meant most to her was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, August 22, 2025 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Fred Miller officiating. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
