Obituary

OBITUARY Gerald Francis Cordia, Sr., known to all as Jerry, of Union, MO departed this life in Creve Coeur, MO on November 28, 2022, having reached the age of eighty-three years, two months and ten days. Jerry was born in Richwoods, MO on September 18, 1939, son of Albert James Cordia and Alma "Irene" Cordia nee Chazelle. On June 3, 1961 he was united in marriage to Karen Elaine Campbell and three children came to bless this union. Jerry is survived by two children, Robin Williams and husband, David, of St. Clair, MO and Jeribe Cordia and wife, Samantha, of Union, MO; by one brother, Albert Cordia and wife, Cathy, of St. Clair, MO; by two sisters, Ruth Ann Peters of St. Peters, MO and Linda O'Donnell of St. Peters, MO; by his grandchildren, Kyle Holder and wife, Sarah, of Union, MO, Coty Holder of Independence, MO, Caleb Holder and wife, Andrea, of Independence, MO, Randi DeWeese and husband, Matt, of Union, MO, Xander Cordia and girlfriend, Mackenzie Rieger, of Union, MO, Killian Cordia of Union, MO and Breslin Cordia of Union, MO; by his great-grandchildren, Ezra, Evelyn, Emery, Everett, Daisy, Nora and Eleanor Holder and Archer DeWeese; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Irene Cordia; by his wife, Karen Cordia; by one son, Gerald F. Cordia, Jr.; by three brothers, Robert Cordia, Virgil Cordia and Charles Cordia; and by two sisters, Ella Mae DeClue and Rose McCrary. Jerry was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO and had recently been attending St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Luebbering, MO. During his working career he was employed by Boeing Company in St. Louis, MO as a Quality Inspector, retiring in January of 2005 after forty years of service to the company. He loved working on cars, racing and driving cars and spending time with Karen taking rides. In his younger years he enjoyed playing hide and seek with their cars in the tiff mines near home, spending time on the river and going fishing. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he cherished the time spent with them. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will never be forgotten. A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brothr-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Deacon Mike Elsner officiating. Entombment will be in Crestview Memorial Park Haven of Rest Mausoleum in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
