OBITUARY Georgia Lee Alexander of Union, MO departed this life in Sullivan, MO on January 15, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-seven years, four months and twenty-four days. Georgia was born in St. Clair, MO on August 22, 1935, daughter of Edwin Armond Lough and Lena Bartle Lough nee Benton. On July 4, 1987 she was united in marriage to Harry Edward Alexander. Georgia is survived by her children, Charlotte Stricker of Union, MO, Morris "Butch" Nevills and wife, Kathy, of St. Clair, MO, Lisa Nappier and husband, Donald, of St. Clair, MO and Lee Ritter and husband, David, of Sullivan, MO; by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lena Lough; by her husband, Harry Alexander; by her brother, David Lough; by her sisters, Dorothy James and Billie Lee; and by her son-in-law, Earl Stricker. Georgia was a Christian and member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. During her working career she was employed at Ballwin Motor Appliance for about ten years and then at St. Clair Die Casting for about twenty-five years. In her younger years she enjoyed going fishing and mushroom hunting. Georgia loved working in her flower garden, canning vegetables and cooking big meals for family gatherings and holidays. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed watching the games. Georgia especially loved watching the grandchildren's sporting events. They were her pride and joy and she cherished the time spent with them. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever by near to their heart. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO with a memorial service at 3:00 PM. A graveside committal will take place at a later date at Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Clair Senior Center or Friendship Missionary Baptist Youth Group.
