OBITUARY
Frieda Victoria York of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Clair, MO on Sunday, January 18, 2026, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, two months and twenty-one days. Frieda was born in St. Louis, MO on October 28, 1937, daughter of Frederick Wease and Margaret Estelle Wease nee Farnworth. On December 19, 1958 she was united in marriage to Roger Larry York, known to all as Larry, and six children came to bless this union.
Frieda is survived by a son, Larry York and wife, Ronda, of St. Clair, MO; by three daughters, Terry York Rudd of St. Clair, MO, Kelly Voyles and husband, Bill, of Villa Ridge, MO and Linda Stokes-Baker of Orange, TX; by her sister-in-law, Sharon York of Thompson’s Station, TN; by eight grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Margaret Wease; by her husband, Roger Larry York; by two sons, Richard York and Frank “Barry: York; by her daughter-in-law, Gala York; by her brothers, Richard Wease, Fred “Sony” Wease and Franklin Wease; and by her sisters, Margaret Boyer, Patricia Keck and Catherine Moore.
Frieda was a Christian, believing in the Lord as her Savior. During her working career she was employed as a shipping clerk at River’s Edge in St. Clair, MO, formerly known as Sportsman’s Supply, serving the company for some twenty to twenty-five years. She loved to travel, especially to Texas, Kentucky, Florida and Tennessee, as well as different states, setting up booths at the flea markets to sell goods. Frieda also enjoyed crocheting, fishing and in her younger years playing the slot machines at the casino. What meant most to her was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever.
A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
