Obituary

OBITUARY Eva Marie Butenhoff of Lonedell, MO departed this life in St. Clair, MO on Friday, October 10, 2025, having reached the age of ninety-three years, six months and nineteen days. Eva was born in Lonedell, MO on March 21, 1932, daughter of Ralph Isaac Lefler and Maude Lefler nee Ellison. On July 29, 1950 she was united in marriage to Robert Charles Butenhoff, Jr. and five children came to bless this union. Eva is survived by two sons, Lance Butenhoff and wife, LaDonna, of Union, MO and Craig Butenhoff and wife, Stephanie, of Lonedell, MO; by her daughters, Michele Brown Jones and husband, Roger, of Washington, MO and Renee Tlapek and husband, Paul, of Cape Girardeau, MO; by her sister-in-law, Sandy Lefler of St. Clair, MO; by seven grandchildren, Megan Sanders, Meredith Carter and husband, Kevin, Nathan Butenhoff and wife, Amanda, Kristen Bruns and husband, Chris, Ben Tlapek, Cole Butenhoff and Cyle Butenhoff and wife, Kirsten; by nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Maude Lefler; by her husband, Robert Butenhoff, Jr.; by one son, Kirk Butenhoff; by her brother, Ralph Lefler; by her son-in-law, Michael Brown; and by one grandson, Mark-Robert Brown. Eva was a Christian of the Baptist faith and lifelong member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO, where she served as church treasurer as well as serving in many other capacities. During her working career she was a switch operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, drove a school bus for the St. Clair R-13 School District (bus 13) for thirteen years, and worked at the Lonedell Post Office, delivering mail for five years and working in the office for eight years. Eva enjoyed feeding and watching the hummingbirds and monarch butterflies, reading and doing daily crossword puzzles. Her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, as she did in theirs, and she cherished the time spent with them, especially at family get togethers. A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO with Pastor John Pursley officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Youth Group. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
