OBITUARY Elmer (Sonny) Claud Lancaster (83) departed this life in St. Clair, MO, on Thursday, August 17, 2023, Formally from Union, MO where he was cared for by his nephew Robert (Angie) Lancaster. Sonny was born in Chicago Heights, IL on May 2, 1940, to James C. and Juliet B. Lancaster. Sonny is survived by four siblings, Mary Ellen Wynder of Valparaiso, IN, Rena (David) Little, of West Lafayette, IN, Martha (Bill) Jenkins, of Sebring, FL and Jim Lancaster of Lakeland, FL. His nieces and nephews are LaQuita Watson, Flip McIntyre, Artie Little, Jason Little, Laurie Hitze, Terri Jenkins, Dena Jenkins Hecht, Leslie Walls, Robert Schauer, Charles Lancaster and Robert Lancaster. He also leaves behind several great and great-great-nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, James and Juliet Lancaster; and by one sister, Julia Arlene Vacherlon. He was proud to have served his country for 18 years in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he became a real estate agent where he was very successful managing and flipping properties. Sonny also had a passion for traveling and cooking which lead him to open and operate many restaurants and bars in Mexico for 25 years. Sonny was a kind and loving person and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. A private committal will take place at a later date. The family of Elmer Claud Lancaster entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
