Edwin Clarence Mudd, known to most as Ed, of St. Clair, MO departed this life in Washington, MO on Thursday, March 28, 2024, having reached the age of seventy-nine years, five months and twenty-one days. Ed was born in St. Louis, MO on October 7, 1944. On November 12, 1983 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Kennedy. Ed is survived by his wife, Patty Mudd of St. Clair, MO; by his sons, Jason Long and wife, Kira, of St. Clair, MO and Nathan Long of St. Clair, MO; by one sister, Sally Hardin of St. Clair, MO; by his grandchildren, Taylor Long, Morgan Long, Wilson Long, Elijah Long, Lucy Long and Lily Long; by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Irene Mudd; and by one sister, Marilyn Duggan. Ed was a Christian, having been raised in the Catholic faith by had been attending Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Clair, MO; He was proud to have served his country in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War, entering on May 13, 1968 and receiving his honorable discharge on May 28, 1971, having attained the rank of SP5. He chose car sales as his career and was employed by Don Flier Chrysler, serving that company for thirty years, and retiring from Dave Sinclair Chrysler after six years of service. Ed was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed going to car shows. He also enjoyed watching old western movies on television. Ed cherished the time he spent with friends and family. The love and fellowship they shared and many precious memories they created will be held dear in their hearts forever. A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Memorial services will be held at 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Backpack Program. The family entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
