Obituary

Doris Jean Nix of Union, MO, formerly of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Pacific, MO on Sunday, July 27, 2025, having reached the age of ninety years, one month and twenty-one days. Doris was born in Big Stone Gap, VA, daughter of John Floyd Robinette and Laura Grace Robinette nee Hurd. In April of 1956 she was united in marriage to Calvin Everette Nix and three children blessed this union. Doris is survived by her husband, Calvin Nix of Union, MO; by her children, Terrie Lynn Reed and husband, Terry, of Pacific, MO, Ron Nix and wife, Rhonda, of Lonedell, MO and Mike Nix of Las Vegas, NV; by two brothers, Troy Robinette and wife, Patricia, of Dade City, FL and Paul Robinette and wife, Dora, of St. Clair, MO; by six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Robinette; and by two brothers, Coy Robinette and Doyle Robinette. Doris was a Christian and past member of Parkway Church of the Nazarene in St. Clair, MO. During her working career she was employed by Von Weise Gear Company in St. Clair, MO for twenty-eight years as a line worker and later as a tool crib manager. She had also worked at Lewis Café in St. Clair for a short time. Being born in Big Stone Gap, VA her family moved to Dade City, FL when she was twelve and that is where she eventually met and married Calvin. They moved to the St. Clair area in the 1960's and the rest was history. Doris learned to play the piano late in life, was an avid reader and also loved to sing. She enjoyed being outdoors, working in the yard and flower garden. Doris especially loved to travel at vacation time with her family. What meant most to her was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will be cherished by them all forever. A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with funeral services to follow at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Gardens in Dade City, FL. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
