Obituary

OBITUARY Donald Wayne Storie of St. Clair, MO, known to most as Don, departed this life in St. Louis, MO on Sunday, April 6, 2025, having reached the age of eighty-two years, eleven months and thirteen days. Donald was born in St. Louis, MO on April 24, 1942, son of Elmo S. Storie and Opal M. Storie nee Bailey. On August 21, 1970 he was united in marriage to Sylvia Kathleen Jolly and three children came to bless this union. Don is survived by his wife, Sylvia Storie of St. Clair, MO; by his children, DeWayne Storie and wife, Lauren, of Washington, MO, Sharon Kempen and husband, Scott, of Waynesville, MO and Sara Wilking and husband, Jim, of Waynesville, MO; by his brother, Douglas Storie of St. Charles, MO; by his brother-in-law, Jim Jolly and wife, Lisa, of San Antonio, TX; by his sister-in-law, Pat Parks of Atoka, TN; by his grandchildren, Caleb Storie, Autumn Storie, Bella Ronje and husband, Jack, Anna Kempen, Allison Wilking and Nathan Wilking; by his great-grandson, Riley Ronje; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Opal Storie. Don was a Christian and longtime member of First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO, where he was very involved in the church, being a church deacon for over fifty years and teaching Sunday School. During his working career he was a well-respected Missouri Highway Patrolman, retiring after thirty-two years of service. In his younger years he enjoyed woodworking. He loved listening to country music, visiting the Grand Ole Opry and reading his Bible. He also enjoyed gathering with friends for coffee or breakfast at Lewis Café. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will be cherished forever. A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, April 14, 2025 at Franklin County Baptist Association in Union, MO with Rev. Jerry Cowin officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Gibson Cemetery in Waynesville, MO. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
