OBITUARY Donald Lee Johnson of Luebbering, MO departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on March 11, 2023, having reached the age of eighty-five years, eight months and twelve days. Donald was born in Lonedell, MO on June 27, 1937, son of Mont Herbert Johnson, Sr. and Edyth Mae Johnson nee Allen. On September 22, 1956 he was united in marriage to Janet Laverne Friend and two daughters came to bless this union. Donald is survived by his daughters, Donna Huegerich and husband, Mark, of High Ridge, MO and Janna Miller and husband, Dennis, of Lonedell, MO; by his brother, Mont Johnson, Jr. of St. Clair, MO; by his sister-in-law, Shirley Friend of Denver, CO; by his grandchildren, Kendra Miller, Dalton Huegerich, Nicholas Seifert and Jessica O'Daniel and husband, Nathan; by his great-grandchildren, Layla Level, Mia Level, Bentley O'Daniel, Landon Miller and Lillian Miller; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Mont, Sr. and Edyth Johnson; by his wife, Janet Johnson; and by his sister, Norma Peterson. Donald was a Christian, having been raised in the Baptist faith and believing in the Lord as his Savior. During his working career he worked as a construction worker, working primarily out of the union halls of the Carpenter's Union and the Wood, Wire and Lathing Union in St. Louis, MO, retiring after over forty years. He was a member of St. Clair Elks Lodge 2651 as well as a volunteer for the St. Clair Fire Protection District. Donald loved to play golf, go fishing and hunting and collect coins. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousins and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 17, 2023 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with Rev. Gary Daud officiating. Interment will be in Virginia Mines Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to Virginia Mines Cemetery Fund.
